Valdosta, Georgia. The Center for Physical Rehabilitation
Incorporated announces that Joey Broadwater has been awarded the Doctor of
Physical Therapy degree from Des Moines University. Completing this doctorate program enhances he ability to assess,
diagnose, and treat patients. The
program includes extended studies in radiology, pharmacology, clinical
medicine, clinical decision-making, manual therapies, motor control analysis,
health promotion, and business management.
Broadwater’s final doctoral
exposition included examining a condition known as torticolis which occurs in
infants. It is characterized by a
misshaped head and face due to prolonged positioning of the baby on his back. Along with publishing a brochure for
physicians and parents, she has compiled an array of treatments for correction
and prevention of this condition, which has proven to be quite successful.
Broadwater opened the Center
in 1993 and became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2000. This distinction means that she is board
certified to treat any diagnosis involving the upper extremity from the
shoulder to the fingers.
In addition to her office on
North Crossing Circle, the Center now provides inpatient and outpatient
physical therapy services at Smith Northview Hospital. The hospital is in a unique position to
provide extensive expertise in their physical therapy services by offering the
specialties of these therapists.
