Valdosta, Georgia.  The Center for Physical Rehabilitation Incorporated announces that Joey Broadwater has been awarded the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Des Moines University.  Completing this doctorate program enhances he ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients.  The program includes extended studies in radiology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, clinical decision-making, manual therapies, motor control analysis, health promotion, and business management.

Broadwater’s final doctoral exposition included examining a condition known as torticolis which occurs in infants.  It is characterized by a misshaped head and face due to prolonged positioning of the baby on his back.  Along with publishing a brochure for physicians and parents, she has compiled an array of treatments for correction and prevention of this condition, which has proven to be quite successful.

Broadwater opened the Center in 1993 and became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2000.  This distinction means that she is board certified to treat any diagnosis involving the upper extremity from the shoulder to the fingers.

In addition to her office on North Crossing Circle, the Center now provides inpatient and outpatient physical therapy services at Smith Northview Hospital.  The hospital is in a unique position to provide extensive expertise in their physical therapy services by offering the specialties of these therapists.

The Center for Physical Rehabilitation is located at 3537 North Crossing Circle in Valdosta.
