Joey Broadwater has been a physical therapist for 25 years.  After graduating from the Medical College of Georgia in 1981 she was employed by the VAMC, where she specialized in neurological rehab and amputations.  Joey enjoyed treating the veterans at the VAMC and was employed as the Director of the Amputee Clinic.

Joey then became involved in Outpatient Physical Therapy and has been a member of an outpatient staff for the last 19 years.

While living in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, Joey gained an appreciation for Pain Management.  She studied extensively with leading Doctors of Osteopathy, who specialized in Pain Management, which helped advance her skills.  It was during this time period that she developed her "hands-on@ approach to treatment.

Following her stay in Dallas, Joey returned to Valdosta in 1993 and opened the Center for Physical Rehabilitation.  This clinic has maintained a varied case load utilizing a wide variety of individualized treatment options.  As well, the goals of this clinic have been to stay a frontrunner in utilizing the latest treatment techniques and to investigate and respect evidence-based practice.

In 2000, Joey achieved the Certified Hand Therapist distinction.  This is awarded to a therapist with at least five years of experience, maintains a concentration in treatment of shoulder, wrist, and hand injuries, and passes an extensive examination including knowledge and practical skills for the upper extremity.

In 2006, Joey completed her transitional doctoral degree in PT at Des Moines University.  Courses of study included manual therapy, pharmacology, health promotion, motor control, clinical medicine, business management, clinical decision-making, and clinical applications.

Joey=s family life includes her husband, Mike, who is employed by the Valdosta Baptist Association; Layne, who loves gymnastics and is a member of the Dosta Dynamics; and Colin, who is moving up the ranks in Tae Kwon Do and also enjoys piano and tap.
