Q: CAN I USE A PRESCRIPTION FOR ANOTHER PHYSICAL THERAPY CLINIC TO COME TO YOUR CLINIC?
A: Yes, by state law it is your choice as the patient where you receive treatment for physical therapy.
Q: WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON THE FIRST VISIT?
A: A general description can be found at WHAT TO EXPECT on our website. However, for our facility you should set aside at least an hour for the initial evaluation. We would also like you to know that we DO begin the treatment process on the first visit. The treatment process itself can take at least 30 minutes. You will meet with your therapist and their assistant. They will also explain the treatment and make you aware of the goals they have planned for your course of treatment. Following your treatment you will be asked to make your appointments as they are convenient for you according to the frequency specified by your primay physician.
Q: HOW MANY VISITS WILL I HAVE?
A: The number of visits and the frequency of your visits are usually determined by your referring physician. Your referring physician will usually write those numbers on the prescription they give you. For example; a doctor may write: TIW x 4 weeks (meaning two times a week for four weeks.) Sometimes they will just state the duration of your treatment. If that is the case, then the therapist will suggest the number of visits per the desired duration of treatment.
Q: SHOULD I BRING MY X-RAYS, MRI'S ETC.?
A: Most of the time all that is needed is a written report from the doctor. If they are needed the therapist will ask you to bring them on your next visit.
Q: WHAT DO I WEAR TO MY VISIT?
A: You should try to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes so that the affected area can be accessed. For example; if it is your knee that is injured, you should wear shorts or clothing that can be rolled past the top of your knee.
